Data Scientist (m/f/x)

🎯 What You'll Do

As a Computer Scientist, you will make a crucial contribution to the core of our service:

• You will contribute directly to our solver written in Rust.
• Development and maintenance of components in our cloud-based, fault-tolerant, scalable microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with the rest of the team on new features and architectural decisions.1
• Take personal ownership of your components and become our in-house expert on them.2
• Maintain quality through refactoring, tests, and documentation.3
• Learn and work with new tools on future projects.

Our Team
You will join a small, focused team that "runs a tight ship": 4 engineers/scientists, 2 business development specialists, and 1 executive. Most of us completed our Masters at TU Delft.

We provide technical solutions for complex problems in the mobility sector, specializing in target group transport (doelgroep vervoer). Our customers include people with mobility obstacles, such as:

• Transport for people in wheelchairs or those going home after a hospital visit.
• Rides for children attending special-needs schools.
• Elderly transport and support for any person facing mobility challenges.

Our Impact
Our systems run 24x7x365, servicing millions of trips per year across most of the Netherlands. We are currently expanding nationally and planning the first steps toward global expansion.

The Core: Our Real-Time Planning Engine
The heart of our operation is a state-of-the-art real-time planning engine. This engine dynamically assigns complex trips for shared transport. Imagine combining trips with different configurations of wheelchairs, passengers, baggage, and seating preferences across buses, taxis, and vans, all while accounting for traffic and strict pickup/drop-off rules. Most importantly, the plan is delivered within a few seconds.

👤 Who Are You?

• You possess a relevant Master’s degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.) or an equivalent skill set through experience.
• A good understanding of software architecture in a microservice setting.
• Able to design and critique architectural decisions for technical solutions.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the rest of the team on technical issues.
• Experience with our aforementioned tech-stack is a plus.
• Speaking Dutch, or willingness to learn, is not a requirement but is beneficial to understand some business terms.
