Royal IHC has established the One Equipment Company (OEC) to deliver unique and forward-thinking propositions to the global maritime industry. Built on a strong foundation - including one of the broadest engineering capabilities in the sector, market leadership in maritime equipment, advanced automation for autonomy, and an extensive global network of facilities - OEC is a key pillar of Royal IHC’s long-term strategy.
Our portfolio includes dredging and offshore components and installations, autonomous operations software, spare parts for installed systems, and vessel overhaul, conversion & modification services. To accelerate our commercial growth, we’re strengthening our international sales force, and seeking an ambitious Commercial Director to elevate our commercial teams and drive the execution of the OEC strategy with an outside-in perspective.

The Role
As Commercial Director, you will lead all commercial activities through and with the Commerce Team reporting to you. This includes Sales, Proposal Design & Estimation, Customer Support and the IHC Training Institute. You will be accountable for both the sales target for the external markets (>100 mio Euro) and the sales generated through other IHC entities. You will maintain functional lines with our sales force abroad, mainly in the regional IHC offices across the globe and be primary liaison to our dredging area sales network, defence and offshore sales communities.
You will be part of a close-knit management team comprising all OEC functions: Engineering, Project and Order management, Procurement, Systems, Services & Production, Finance and HR. You will report directly to the Director OEC.

Your Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
  • Lead and mentor the OEC Commerce Managers and sales team, providing motivation through constructive feedback, empowering talent and performance management, fostering team cooperation and employability, and ensuring effective succession planning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver defined (growth) targets in alignment with the company's strategic direction, enhancing existing business models and introducing new ones.
  • Report on sales performance and progress in the OEC management team.
  • Monitor and evaluate sales performance to ensure on-target performance in your teams.
  • Manage sales cost to ensure ROI and the desired profitability.
  • Continuously improve sales processes, systems, and methods for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate sales activities, policies, and capacity with the commercial functions of other IHC subsidiaries.
  • Analyse product propositions on profitability and growth prospects.
  • Provide commercial input in portfolio management desisions.
  • Drive development of new high added value commercial propositions for core and non-core markets.


Gevraagd

We are looking for a seasoned and driven commercial leader with a passion for sales. You bring:
  • A Higher Vocational Education (HBO or WO) in a technical or commercial field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Technical Management, or Business Administration.
  • Proven experience in senior sales management roles within an international context, preferably in the manufacturing or maritime industry.
  • A strong track record in driving sales growth, customer satisfaction and profitability – both in greenfield and brownfield markets.
  • The ability to manage various business models in parallel – from highly complex projects to transactional spare parts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate data-driven insights.
  • Strong coaching skills, a proven history of developing talent and savvy in implementing sales strategy tools and techniques.
  • A team player who remains composed under pressure, is proactive, and is willing to travel abroad occasionally.
  • Available and capable of working in the Rotterdam area, fluent in Dutch and English.
