Join the mission to combat financial crime by developing and optimizing data-driven solutions that analyze millions of transactions daily. As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure, ensuring systems remain robust, flexible, and effective against evolving threats.

Among your responsibilities:

• Develop and implement scalable components for data processing and generation using Big Data technologies.
• Analyze data sources and outputs to identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Proactively address infrastructure challenges, such as performance bottlenecks, and collaborate with the team to design innovative solutions.
• Monitor and test the performance of the solutions, driving continuous improvement.
• Lead alignment with IT, Architecture, and Data Science teams to optimize model performance and operational efficiency.
• Mentor junior and medior colleagues, promoting best practices and consistent ways of working across the team.
• Act as a key liaison with higher management, translating technical insights into strategic decisions.

Gevraagd

Must-haves:

• Technical Background: MSc in a quantitative or technical discipline, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Econometrics or related.
• Hands-On Experience: Proven track record (5+ years) in developing data-intensive applications or analytics solutions, with expert knowledge of Python and PySpark.
• Development Best Practices: Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including version control (e.g., Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Problem-Solving Approach: Ability to design and implement scalable, high-performance data systems while maintaining a critical and analytical perspective.
• Communication Skills: Fluent in English and Dutch, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with Azure Databricks.

Aanbod

This temporary position in Utrecht (hybrid; office days Mon and Thu) for 36 hours per week starts asap and will initially run for a year. You will be working through a flex contract via us, with a monthly salary between €6,500 and €8,500, depending on experience and qualifications.
