We are looking for a Materials and Corrosion Engineer to work on an offshore project. The Engineer will be responsible for selecting materials and developing corrosion control methods for offshore structures to ensure their safety and performance. The job is focused on design engineering, including FEED, pre-FEED and bid experience. The Engineer will need to be in the office for a few days per week. The role will not involve field-based activities and instead will be focused on office-based tasks and theoretical knowledge. We encourage candidates with experience in EPC, design, detail, and multidisciplinary project phases to apply.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Choose appropriate metallic and non-metallic materials for structural elements, piping, process equipment, and pressure vessels on floating products such as FPSOs, FSOs, and FLNGs. 
• Develop and implement comprehensive corrosion control strategies to mitigate risks and ensure the longevity of offshore structures. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align materials selection and corrosion control efforts, ensuring a coherent approach across all project stages. 
• Conduct thorough corrosion and erosion rate evaluations to identify risks and implement preventive measures effectively. 
• Prepare detailed reports, diagrams, and documentation outlining material selection philosophies and corrosion control strategies. 
• Review internal documents and vendor deliverables to ensure compliance with specifications and contractual requirements. 
• Interface with operations and asset integrity teams to address materials and corrosion control issues throughout the project lifecycle. 
• Provide technical support to site teams, shipyards, and vendors, ensuring the successful implementation of approved design solutions. 

Gevraagd

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgy, Petroleum, Materials Science, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in corrosion control and material selection for offshore facilities. 
• Certification from a professional association specialising in corrosion and materials (e.g., NACE) is preferred. 
• Familiarity with international material selection standards such as ISO 21457 and Norsok M-001.
• In-depth understanding of relevant international standards and codes, including NACE, ASTM, API, ISO, and DNV.
• Proficiency in corrosion rate calculation software and familiarity with relevant industry tools. 
• Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously. 
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. 
• Willingness to travel to project sites, fabrication yards, and vendor premises as required.
