As Senior Category Manager, you will play a determining role in shaping the specific product offerings and to drive category growth and sales. From your professional background you bring a strategic vision for category development, deep knowledge of market trends, and a proven track record in sourcing, purchasing and assortment strategy. This challenging role requires blends of analytical prowess, market insights and leadership to ensure the specific category meet and exceed sales targets. You will be part of a well-matched team and you will report directly to the Procurement Director.
Your tasks and responsibilities include, amongst others:
  • Category Management and Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy that aligns with business objectives, focusing on product assortment, pricing and positioning to drive sales growth. Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities for category expansion and innovation;
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery of goods. Manage supplier performance and collaborate on product development initiatives;
  • Sales and Margin Optimization: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align purchasing strategies with sales objectives. Analyze sales data and market trends to adjust product offerings and promotions, aiming to maximize sales and profitability;
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with the supply-chain and oversee inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock and obsolescence. Implement inventory management strategies that align with sales forecasts and seasonal demand;
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, sales, logistics, and finance teams to ensure cohesive strategies and execution across all touchpoints. Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction;
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing and assortment professionals. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team;
  • Market and Consumer Insights: Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive dynamics. Utilize insights to inform purchasing decisions and assortment strategies that meet customer needs and drive market differentiation.


Gevraagd

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, category management, or merchandise planning, with a focus on design, interior or home goods;
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful sourcing and purchasing strategies that drive sales and profitability;
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships;
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to inform decision-making;
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills;
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in cross-functional teams;
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
