Senior .NET Backend Engineer Rotterdam • Eneco

We are seeking a skilled .NET/C# Engineer to join our team in developing the VPP Core Domain, a critical system responsible for the management and monitoring of essential energy assets. In this role, you will design and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance back-end solutions to support mission-critical operations within Dutch infrastructure (controlling mission-critical Dutch assets).

You will contribute to sophisticated event-driven and distributed systems, ensuring robust functionality in a high-stakes environment. As part of a collaborative, cross-functional production team, you will work with cutting-edge technologies to deliver innovative solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. At least 7 years’ experience in complex, distributed, scalable backend application design and development is required.

• Develop and maintain scalable back-end systems using .NET and C# using well-known design patterns and robust, resilient, secure and well-tested code
• Design and implement event-driven architectures leveraging messaging systems
• Take a lead role in team code reviews and be an active contributor to team software and solution architecture
• Mentor peers and improve development processes when needed
• Be a champion for improving observability by developing service metrics to indicate health and performance of services
• Ensure system reliability and performance in a distributed, cloud-native and hybrid cloud/ on-premises environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and your product manager to deliver mission-critical solutions.

• Coding Expertise: Expertise in building robust, high-performance applications.
• Cloud-Native Development: Proficiency with Azure for scalable, resilient deployment and competent with cloud-native design paterns.
• Container Orchestration: Experience with modern DevOps practices, infrastrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and experience with Kubernetes for managing containerized workloads.
• Database Technologies: Experience building with SQL and No-SQL databases (MongoDB/Cosmos DB).
• Messaging Systems: Experience developing solutions with Kafka, Event Hubs, or RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication.
• Frontend (Optional): Exposure to Vue.js is a plus but not required.
• Architecture: Proven experience implementing architecture patterns and driving architectural decision making within teams taking cost, performance, scale and features into account
