Your job As an Associate Scientist, you are responsible for (further) developing vaccine formulations and vaccine manufacturing processes. For this position, a key focus will be on the freeze-drying (lyophilisation) manufacturing step. You will be setting up and performing experiments independently. For that, you will be manufacturing vaccines on a small scale, performing several analytical methods, and will coordinate experiment execution with other departments. For this role, there will be a focus on freeze-drying of finished products, but it will also involve either bacterial fermentation processes or virus/cell culture. You will be part of a project team that is composed of various departments at our company.

Your responsibilities • Perform experiments, data analyses and calculations to develop, refine, and scale up production processes and develop freeze-drying cycles.• Develop formulations for freeze-dried products.• Perform or develop analytical methods or tests to support the formulation and production process development, such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and freeze dry microscopy. • Document your experiments, write protocols and reports.• Contribute to the introduction, qualification, maintenance and writing procedures of/for (lab)equipment.• Support with general lab duties.• You will actively participate in the team and give your opinion on projects, beyond your own assignment. • Providing a fresh perspective within the department: your opinion matters.
The above-mentioned responsibilities are an indication of what you will be doing after proper onboarding and initial learning and development. This provides you with the opportunity to learn and perform tasks independently. In consultation with your supervisor, you could take on additional tasks and responsibilities.

Requirements• An HBO, B.Sc. or M.Sc. Life Sciences / Process Technology / Chemical engineering / Food technology graduate or related.• Prior knowledge/experience with freeze-drying technology is preferred but not required as long as you can demonstrate that you have a technical affinity with this topic.• You are searching for a job where you have the freedom to take initiative • You are fluent in Dutch or English

What you’ll get in returnHays Detachering | This is a project that will start with a contract for 12 months through Hays. An extension to stay within the department is anticipated. In this position, you will get a competitive salary starting from €2900 gross per month and your travel expenses are covered.
