As the lead in control for intricate Space and Semiconductor projects at TMC Physics, your role involves overseeing a team of 2-3 dynamics and control specialists and engineers. You will serve as the key point of contact for the control discipline within physics-centric projects.


| Your challenges

To excel in this position, you should possess an MSc and preferably a Ph.D. in physics or a related field, specializing in control, along with a minimum of 5 years of practical experience. Your role demands creativity and a profound understanding of control design and engineering concepts as applied to physics-related projects. Familiarity with the intricacies and challenges of high-performance control in physics systems is crucial. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you'll collaborate closely with control engineers, physicists, and other project members. Your responsibilities include engaging with partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers, monitoring schedules, and ensuring the control team achieves desired performance results within targeted timelines.


| What do we expect from you?

Experience in physics system design, particularly in understanding dynamic behavior and motion control of physical systems, is expected. Your expertise in dynamic modeling, both lumped-mass and finite-element, is vital for designing complex physics systems. Additionally, you should be well-versed in feedback control and frequency-domain analyses, with the ability to interpret Bode and Nyquist diagrams and relate them to physical system properties or disturbance sources. You understand the significance of data in dynamic system identification, controller design, and performance evaluation in a physics context.

Required Skills: Apart from your technical expertise, you should enjoy the managerial aspects of the lead role. This includes:

  • Monitoring the team's progress, providing necessary tools and resources, and being honest and transparent in your leadership.
  • Collaborating with physicists to convey and translate relevant requirements to the control team is part of your responsibilities.
  • Interfacing with suppliers and partners, along with experience in deriving hardware specifications and defining acceptance tests in a physics context, is crucial.

As a leader, you exhibit a pioneering mentality and comfortably navigate uncertainties associated with scientific and physics-related engineering challenges. Your excellent communication skills, energy, creativity, and boundless curiosity motivate, convince, and inspire both colleagues and customers.
