Within the department, industrial soaps, dispersions and hard resins are produced and mostly delivered from stock. The main raw materials for production are natural resins, which are supplied intercontinental. These main raw materials are modified and/or strengthened in reactors during the production process and then processed in 1 of the continuous plants according to specifications.

The operations department works on a 2-shift system. Process operators work early and late shifts. Operations also has support from a day shift. The early and late shifts are under the leadership of 2 shift supervisors, while the day shift is under the leadership of the superintendent. The day shift operators and shift supervisors receive daily assignments from the superintendent. Work orders are given to the process opera-tors, premelters and shippers alike. For operations, ongoing current work is discussed in the morning at the morning meeting for the past 24 hours. The morning meeting is chaired by the production manager. Sitting in the morning meeting are the production technologist, PQC analyst, manager maintenance & projects, superintendent and the shift supervisor on duty. The operations department works closely with the maintenance department and the PQC department where production continuity must be guaranteed.

A 2nd major component within the department is planning. This process is controlled by the superintendent. Based on orders from the customer service desk in Kallo - Belgium, data are analysed and it is determined which intermediate materials must be produced in Kallo and which intermediate materials in Maastricht. The superintendent also carries out a weekly check on the stock of raw materials and associated products and, in consultation with the production manager, gives orders to the technical department for certain repairs if necessary.

 Controlling and executing all main processes (reactors, storage and intermediate buffers) for resin processing in accordance with instructions, specifications and customer requirements and based on own insight and knowledge of the production processes.
