Environment, Health, and Safety Officer

Role Description
Your role as an Environment, Health, and Safety Officer is to be involved in various projects for various sites, where the assessment and qualification of new chemicals is central. You do this on the basis of specifications and certain themes, including safety, environment and usability. You then process this in company’s systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage substance data in the EHS substance database to maintain accuracy and completeness.
- Classify mixtures of substances, including wastes, according to regulatory standards such as REACH and CLP.
- Verify classifications of proprietary and vendor substances to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review data and formatting of SDSs to ensure consistency and accuracy, and forward new and amended SDSs to relevant stakeholders, such as the Global Safety Environment team (GSE).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support EHS initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of legislation and regulations regarding chemical substances (REACH, CLP, PGS-15, ADR)
- Proficiency in applying calculation rules in the CLP
- Familiarity with legislation and regulations related to drug and explosive precursors, ZZS substances, ABM, Opium Act, Substance of Concerns, and Biocide
- Ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and other sources of substance risk information.
- Understanding of legal requirements concerning SDSs (REACH)
- Experience using SAP and Excel
- Fluency in both Dutch and English (speaking, reading, and writing)
