Position:ASSISTANT BASE MANAGER
Location: Hindeloopen, Netherlands
Start Date: March 2024
Contract type: Permanent
What you will be doing
Reporting to the Regional Manager, as the Assistant Base Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of customer-facing operations, maintaining customer satisfaction, and upholding service quality.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
CUSTOMER SERVICE

• Ensure high-quality service delivery and a warm welcome for all customers.
• Monitor the proper application of pre/post-departure procedures.
• Address customer demands, requests, and claims in collaboration with the base and regional managers for serious incidents.

FINANCES AND ADMINISTRATIVE

• Maintain base accounts, manage accounting documents, and oversee the cash system.
• Manage variable elements of team wages, work planning, and hours.
• Assist the Regional Manager in budget control and optimization.
• Handle global administrative tasks and maintain positive relationships with partners.
• Manage relations with the local community.
• Communicate monthly reporting and oversee local income (sales of extras)

FLEET/BASE

• Ensure all identity documents for boats are in compliance.
• Collaborate with Technicians and Cleaning team to maintain fleet/interior according to company standards.
• Report accidents and issue detailed reports.
• Maintain a welcoming and secure base, ensuring compliance with access regulations.
• Assist with breakdown planning during the season.

STAFF

• Ensure staff performs functions correctly and presents themselves well.
• Provide necessary training for staff tasks.
• Manage teamwork planning based on bookings and departures.
• Ensure staff adheres to safety regulations and wears appropriate equipment.
• Enforce uniform policies and apply labour legislation.

COMPANY VEHICLES

• Ensure company cars are in good condition and compliant with insurance and technical controls.
• Confirm staff is legally authorized to drive company cars.

PARTICULARITY OF THE POSITION

• Availability to work on weekends, bank holidays, and school holidays during the season.
• Potential travel to support other operations bases.

What we are looking for

• Fluent in English and Dutch (written and spoken); German language skills are a strong advantage.
• Customer-oriented with good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet challenges and show initiative.
• Strong computer skills; internal training provided for cash and booking systems.
• Understanding of the industry's complexity and products.
• Knowledge of the inland waterways industry and boats is an advantage.
• Boat license is also advantageous.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and multitasking abilities
